Jackson Parish – Press Release

Daniel W. Newell, District Attorney for the Second Judicial District in and for the Parish of Jackson makes the following announcement relative to disposition of cases in Jackson Parish as indicated:

3-16-17

Lester Thomas  – Pled guilty to Second Degree Battery and was sentenced to three years hard labor, suspended, with the exception of time already served.  The defendant was ordered to have no contact with the victim and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

Brett Roach  – Pled guilty to Distribution of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 8  years hard labor with credit for time served.

Melvin Oliver – Pled guilty to Obstruction of Justice and sentenced to 2 years hard labor with credit for time served.

Steven Smith – Pled guilty to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 3 years hard labor, suspended, placed on 5 years supervised probation and ordered to pay fines and costs.

Cornelius Boston – Pled guilty to two counts of Distribution of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years hard labor with credit for time served.

Tonya Sanchez – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to 3 years hard labor, with credit for time served, to run concurrent with another sentence she is presently serving.

Charles Soden – Pled guilty to two counts of Bank Fraud, was sentenced to 3 years hard labor, suspended, placed on 3 years supervised probation and ordered to pay fines and costs.

Jequilian Thompson – Pled guilty to Aggravated Battery and was sentenced to 9 years and 237 days hard labor, 5 years suspended, placed on 3 years probation and ordered to pay fines and costs.
