Jackson Parish – Press Release

Daniel W. Newell, District Attorney for the Second Judicial District in and for the Parish of Jackson makes the following announcement relative to disposition of cases in Jackson Parish as indicated:

AUGUST 2, 2019

BRETT ROACH – Pled guilty, as charged, to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  He was sentenced to two years at hard labor. The sentence was not suspended and he was given credit for time served.  The sentence is to run concurrent with his parole time.   

ROBERTO GUERRERO – Pled guilty, as charged, to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  He was sentenced to two years at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and he was placed on two years of supervised probation with the Department of Probation and Parole.  He was ordered to pay fines and costs.

CRYSTAL PESNELL – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  She was sentenced to eighteen months at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and she was placed on supervised probation with the Department of Probation and Parole.  She was ordered to pay fines and costs.  The defendant also pled guilty to improper supervision of a minor by a parent.  She was sentenced to eighty-three days of parish jail time.  She was ordered to attend approved family counseling and pay fines and court costs.

ANTONIO LEONARD – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute and Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was sentenced to six years and six months at hard labor on each count.  The sentences are to run concurrent with each other and with any other time he may serve on parole.  He was given credit for time served and remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections to continue serving his time. 

JAZMAN ELLIS, – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule I, Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute and Attempted Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of Drugs.  He was sentenced to five years at hard labor on each count.  The sentences were suspended and he was placed on supervised probation for three years.  He was also ordered to pay fines, and court costs.

CHIQUITA WILLIAMS – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Methamphetamine Substance with Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute    She was sentenced to five years at hard labor on each count.  The sentences were suspended and she was placed on supervised probation with the Department of Probation and Parole for a period of three years.  She was also ordered to pay fines and costs.

MARSHAL GARRISON JOHNSTON – Pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  He was sentenced three years at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and he was placed on supervised probation for a period of three years with the Department of Probation and Parole.  He was also ordered to pay fines and costs of court over the first eighteen months of probation.  This sentence is to run concurrent with any other sentence he may be serving.   

MARSHAL GARRISON JOHSTON – Pled guilty, as charged, to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  He was sentenced to three years at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and he was placed on supervised probation for a period of three years with the Department of Probation and Parole.  He was also ordered to pay fines and costs.

ALEX K. ROBERTSON – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance.  He was sentenced to one year at hard labor.  The sentence was suspended and placed on one-year unsupervised probation.

KAYLA WATSON – Pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.  She was sentenced to two years hard labor.  The sentence was not suspended.  The sentence is to run concurrent with any other sentence she is presently serving.
