Jackson Parish – Press Release

Daniel W. Newell, District Attorney for the Second Judicial District in and for the Parish of Jackson makes the following announcement relative to disposition of cases in Jackson Parish as indicated:

August 8, 9, 21 and 30, 2017

SARAH JONES – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to two years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation. The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

BRITTNEY COBURN  – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to three years hard labor, suspended, and placed on three years supervised probation.  The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

GARY ADKINS – Pled guilty to Simple Burglary and sentenced to five years hard labor. The defendant also pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to five years hard labor.   Both sentences were suspended and the defendant was placed on 5 years supervised felony probation to run concurrent.  The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

ROBERT DUNHAM – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to 2 years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 2 years felony probation.  He was ordered to pay fines and costs.

LORI FEAZELL– Pled guilty to Simple Burglary, sentenced to 3 years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.  She was ordered to pay fines and costs.

DEREK HUGHES – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to three years hard labor and given credit for time served. He was remanded to the Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

ELIZABETH PACE  – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to two years hard labor, suspended, and placed on two years supervised probation.  The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

SHANE POUNCEY – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and sentenced to three years hard labor, suspended, and the defendant was placed on three years supervised felony probation to run concurrent with other sentences he is currently serving in other parishes.  The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

JESSICA SULLIVAN – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to 2 years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 2 years felony probation.  She was ordered to pay fines and costs.

STACY CASKEY– Pled guilty to Simple Burglary, sentenced to 3 years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.  She was ordered to pay fines and costs.

DANNY DYE, JR. – Pled guilty to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, first offense, was sentenced to four years hard labor, with credit for time served. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

JAMES RAY GOINS – Pled guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to fifteen years hard labor, with three years suspended.  The defendant also pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance With Intent to Distribute.  He was sentenced to seventeen (17) years hard labor, 5 years of which were suspended.   Additionally, the defendant pled guilty to Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.  He was sentenced to 17 years hard labor, with 5 years suspended.  He was given credit for time served.   All sentences are to run concurrent with each other. He was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

ROGER HOPKINS – Pled guilty to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to 3 years hard labor, suspended, and placed on 3 years felony probation.  He was ordered to pay fines and costs.

JOSHUA WALKER – Pled guilty to two counts of Domestic Battery, Second Offense, sentenced to one year hard labor on each count, suspended and placed on five years supervised probation.  These sentences are to run concurrent with each other.    The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

DAWN PRESTRIDGE – Pled guilty to two counts of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and will return on November 29, 2017, to be sentenced.

EDDIE BARNES, JR. – Pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated – Third Offense.  He will return on November 7, 2017, to be sentenced.

September 5, 6 and 7, 2017

MATTHEW VALENTINE – Pled guilty to Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, was sentenced to five years hard labor, suspended, and placed on five years supervised probation.  The defendant was ordered to pay fines and costs.

FLOYD YOUNG  – Pled guilty to Simple Burglary, was sentenced to five years hard labor.   The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections and ordered to pay restitution.

AMY MARIE KELLEY-LOPEZ – Pled guilty to Forgery, and sentenced to one year hard labor, to run concurrent with any other sentence she may be serving.  The defendant was ordered to pay restitution.

FRANKLIN DELL BUSH – Pled guilty to Simple Burglary and sentenced to five years hard labor.  He was ordered to pay restitution. This sentence is to run concurrent with any other sentence he may be serving.

JAMES WILSON –  Pled guilty to Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, was sentenced to 10 years hard labor, with 7 years suspended.  He was placed on 5 years supervised probation and given credit for time served.  The defendant was remanded to the Department of Corrections to continue serving his time.

CHAD MOORE  – Pled guilty to Principal to Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute, was sentenced to 15 years hard labor, with 7 years suspended.  The sentence is to run concurrent with a probation revocation on a previous conviction.  The defendant was given credit for time served and remanded to the Department of Corrections to continue serving his time.

JIMMIE CASKEY, JR.  – Pled guilty to Simple Burglary, was sentenced to five years hard labor and given credit for time served.  The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections and ordered to pay restitution.

September 20, 2017

JIMMIE DON AMOS – Pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute.  He also plep guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance.    The defendant was ordered to return on November 7, 2017, for sentencing.
